“Last year I purchased a Marchwood guitar crafted from Lost Tunnel redwood and bog oak, and it has exceeded all my expectations. The tone is incredibly responsive, and I've noticed it has opened up beautifully over the past year, providing a rich and dynamic sound. The craftsmanship is outstanding, and it's clear that a lot of care went into every detail of this instrument. Oliver was a pleasure to work with from start to finish, offering excellent communication and attention to detail throughout the entire process. I highly recommend Marchwood guitars to anyone looking for a high-quality, unique instrument.”

I am fortunate enough to own two of Olivers guitars with a third on order. Having a guitar custom made is a special moment, one that requires honesty on the part of the maker and the customer. When researching guitar makers for my own build the criteria was: 1. British, 2. Highly skilled craftsmanship, 3. A person who understands the difference between good and excellent, 4. Creative design skills on par with hand skills, 5. Confidence to move the design and manufacture of acoustic guitars forward. As a young British guitar maker Oliver stood out. His guitars are handmade to a level of perfection that is hard to believe. When I say hand-made I really mean hand made. No heavy machinery, no CNC and very little by way of fixtures and jigs. Oliver's guitars have a clarity of sound, a purity and accuracy of tone. The same perfection evident in the woodworking is also on display with the focus on sound. My own guitar has been subtly re-voiced by Oliver to alter the sound characteristics. That in itself requires a level of hand ear coordination few possess. I hope to own and play many more of Oliver's guitars in the future.

The guitar is awesome. Build quality and finish is really excellent. Up there with my Astrand. The redwood is visually striking and really does mellow the sound. There’s a glassy quality to the bog oak that isn’t overpowering. Also loud and even up the neck. Great sustain and overtones. Really happy with it. And it will only get better.

"I've had a lot of sole-luthier guitars pass through my hands, including many of the USA "uber" makers. The price these guitars command is largely due to forum hype (notably on the Acoustic Guitar Forum) and dealer hype, but I've learned that there are plenty of great builders under the radar who are doing equally good work. Oliver's guitars caught my eye due to his very obvious attention to detail and a direct comparison with my Taran Tirga Mhor convinced me to get a Marchwood 00.
IMHO his guitars compete easily with the usual suspects costing many times more."
